Android 16 Officially Launches with Live Updates, AI Scam Detection, and Enhanced Security Features

Android 16, codenamed "Baklava," officially launched on June 10, 2025, introducing a suite of new features and enhancements aimed at improving user experience, security, and accessibility.

Live Updates: Persistent, real-time notifications for ongoing activities like ride-sharing and food deliveries, similar to iOS's Live Activities. This feature is currently available on Pixel devices, with broader support coming soon. 

Advanced Protection Mode: Enhanced security settings designed for high-risk users, offering robust protection against digital threats. 

AI-Powered Scam Detection: Google Messages now includes AI-driven scam detection to help identify and warn users about potential fraudulent messages. 

Health Connect Integration: Support for Electronic Health Records (EHR) via Health Connect, allowing apps to access and manage medical data securely. 

Accessibility Enhancements: Improvements such as high-contrast text boxes and automatic redaction of sensitive notifications to aid users with visual impairments. 

Auracast Support: Introduction of Bluetooth LE Audio's Auracast technology, enabling users to stream audio to multiple devices simultaneously. 

Material 3 Expressive Design: A refreshed design language featuring updated iconography, typography, and animations. While some elements are present, the full redesign is scheduled for release in September 2025.

Desktop Mode Preview: A new desktop-like interface with windowing support and external display compatibility, currently in preview for Pixel devices. 

Improved Camera Features: Automatic night mode scene detection, hybrid auto exposure, and more precise color temperature adjustments.

Android 16 is initially rolling out to Pixel devices, with other manufacturers like Samsung, OnePlus, and Xiaomi expected to release updates for their devices in the coming months.

Android 16 was released on June 10, 2025, for Pixel devices.

Other compatible smartphones, including Honor Magic 7 Pro, Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro, Vivo Iqoo 13 and X200 Pro, OnePlus 13, Oppo Find X8 Pro, and Realme GT 7 Pro, will receive the update in the coming weeks and months .
