Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini in Development: Compact Powerhouse with Periscope Camera Expected
Xiaomi is reportedly working on a new compact flagship—the Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini—which aims to deliver high-end features in a smaller form factor. The device is expected to launch with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display, supporting a high refresh rate of either 120Hz or 144Hz, catering to users who prefer compact phones without compromising on display quality and performance.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, offering top-tier processing power and efficiency. The device may come in 12GB and 16GB RAM variants, with storage options ranging from 256GB to a massive 1TB. A large battery—possibly 5000mAh or more—with 120W fast charging support is also expected, ensuring all-day usage and quick top-ups.
One of the standout features of the Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini is its rear camera system. It will feature a triple-lens setup with a periscope telephoto sensor capable of optical zoom and 8K video recording. The rear design is tipped to include a large horizontal camera module that spans nearly one-third of the back panel, a look inspired by the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models. Xiaomi is reportedly experimenting with different glass treatments and camera protector styles to refine the final design.
The Xiaomi 16 series, including the standard Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Mini, and 16 Ultra, is expected to launch in September 2025. The Mini variant reflects a broader industry trend of introducing compact flagship devices, especially among Chinese smartphone brands. If the rumors hold true, the 16 Pro Mini could offer a perfect blend of portability, power, and premium features.
