iPhone 16 Pro |
Here's a sneak peek
*Powerful 5x telephoto camera
* Enhanced zoom capabilities
* Improved low-light performance
*48-megapixel sensor
* 8K video capture at 5x optical zoom
The iPhone 16 Pro, set to launch this year, will be Apple's first smaller smartphone to feature a powerful 5x telephoto camera, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to reports, this camera upgrade is just the beginning, with even more extensive upgrades planned for future iPhone flagships, starting with the iPhone 17 range in 2025.
Currently, smaller iPhones have missed out on Apple's most powerful zoom camera, but this will change with the iPhone 16 Pro's 5x tetraprism telephoto lens, aligning it with the iPhone 15 Pro Max in terms of zoom capabilities.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that future iPhone generations will have even more impressive zoom capabilities, with new camera designs potentially appearing first in larger Pro Max models. Starting with the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple's flagship will feature a new 48-megapixel tetraprism-based camera with a larger 1/2.6-inch sensor, improving low-light performance and reducing graininess. This upgrade will also enhance detail and digital zoom capabilities, allowing for 8K video capture at 5x optical zoom.
While it's unclear if the new 48-megapixel camera will be available in both iPhone 17 Pro models, it's expected to feature in both iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in 2026. With these upgrades, Apple is set to revolutionize the camera capabilities of its iPhones, making them more powerful and feature-rich than ever before.
